Founded in 1953 as Shin-han Bearings, the company changed its name to Korea Bearing Industry in 1964. From its founding, the company earned a global reputation as a manufacturer of high performing precision bearings for electric motor applications. In 1995, the company merged with Hanwha, followed in 1998, with a joint venture between Schaeffler/FAG and Hanwha. In 2003, Schaeffler FAG took over ownership of the company.
